cGMP HEK293 Cell Banking

The HEK293 cell line consists of immortalized human embryonic kidney cells and is one of the most widely used cell lines in research. Since its establishment in the 1970s, this robust and fast-growing cell line and its derivatives have been used extensively in receptor signaling, cancer research, and large-scale protein production. Besides their rapid doubling time and ease of culture, there are many reasons why the HEK293 cell line is such a solid workhorse line, including reproducibility of results, protein production, gene expression, and transfection amenability.

Creative Bioarray provides a cGMP-compliant HEK293 cell bank by following the industry-standard cell bank system to help our customers worldwide. We have dedicated cell bank manufacturing scientists and quality professionals who create custom production processes for high-quality cell banks. Before cGMP manufacturing, we demonstrate key process parameters and quality attributes to our customers in a pilot or engineering.

Our Cell Services Cover the Complete Lifecycle of a Cell Bank

  • Testing of developed cell lines before bank construction, such as HEK293, HEK293S, HEK293T, HEK293F, HEK293FT, HEK293H, HEK293E, HEK293E, HEK293A, HEK293FTM, etc. Our service also allows customers to provide HEK293 cell lines with growth parameters, which can be transferred directly to the manufacturing team for translation into the cell bank manufacturing process.
  • Cell banking for master and working cell banks under cGMP conditions. Establishing master cell banks (MCB) are used for fully characterized and working cell banks (WCB), and WCB is used for the expansion and production of the final product. In the manufacturing process, cell passages are made to reach more than 200 × 106 cells for the MCB and 1000 × 106 for the WCB.
  • Cryopreservation. Cryotubes are properly labeled and filled with the required cell concentration. Cryotubes are transported from the cleanroom to the cryopreservation area and temperature is monitored during transport. The resulting cryotubes are then transferred to a gas-phase nitrogen tank at -180°C.
  • Environmental monitoring. Airborne suspended particles and airborne microorganisms (bacteria and fungi) are monitored during the manufacture of cell banks, all in accordance with current cGMP regulations. In addition, the glove prints (finger dabs) of personnel are sampled for microbiological analysis at the end of each working day.
